Microeconomic Development

Microeconomic Programs are market-based programs that provide impoverished people with resources to start and maintain their own businesses. Once immediate physical needs are met, long- term solutions to poverty are needed. This is the embodiment of the old saying, “Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.”

Our Microeconomic Training Programs offer training in: how to write a business plan, ethical business practices, and financial feasibility of a business proposal. We have provided investments for several approved projects. These loans are repaid with interest within a two year time frame with the monies created remaining in Haiti for reinvestments in new businesses and expansion of existing endeavors. Examples of the newly launched business ventures:

Chicken Farm This small business provides eggs and meat for the church families and the community, as well as supplemental income for the pastoral staff.

Small Agricultural FarmVegetables are planted and tended by a group of 10 church members. The harvested produce is sold at the local market for income and donated to assist the Children’s Feeding Program.

Motorbike Services These 3-wheel motorbikes provide transportation of people and goods within the predominately walking community with taxi, hauling, and delivery services.

Gasoline SalesGasoline is sold for motorbikes and vehicle consumption.

Phone and Phone Card SalesCell phones are vital for communication within the community.Phones and phone card purchases needs are met via this expanding business.

Snorkel Business Haiti boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. This small business rents snorkeling equipment for exploring tourists.

Exciting future plans for small business ventures include a convenience store, printing company, and hardware store; all of which are necessary for an economically growing community.
